Geocache Description:

Paiute Canyon

Elevation 6,726'

Located in Paiute Canyon, there are a few options getting here. Highly recommended, 4x4 moderate clearance vehicles, not crazy high though and especially after heavy rains to take you near GZ. 2-wheel drive (moderate clearance) will do but Honda Civic's will not cut it in Paiute Canyon.

From I-15, take Lytle Creek Road to the shooting range where the pavement ends. It's 3 miles from here with the first 1.4 miles a bit on a rocky wash before finding a break on a dirt road. You'll cross North Fork Lytle Creek before meeting up with the final stretch to Paiute Canyon Road.

There are two other options in from Lone Pine Canyon Road to the north. Take 3N29 (Sharpless Ranch Road) or 3N31 (Upper Lytle Creek Divide) both to 3N33 (Slade Canyon Road) both take you down to North Fork Lytle Creek (Paiute Canyon Road) to 3N06B to Paiute Camp.

There are many trails, offroad and hiking in Lytle Creek Canyon. The trails here are tight in places and could experience offroad traffic on the weekends. Popular and yet least visited like Stockton Flats and 4x4 only Coldwater Canyon with many yellow post camp sites throughout the area. If you're camping, a California Campfire Permit is required and adhere to current forest orders and conditions. Contact Front Country Ranger District.

On the way there or back, stop and check out Moss Rock Waterfall GC1D2ZX
