Geocache Description:

The Mt. Pinos area offers picnicing, camping, hiking, mountain bike riding, and even stargazing possibilities. This cache is located to be a convenient stop as you're traveling back down the mountain from the Mt. Pinos parking lot.

There is a beautiful panorama of Lockwood Valley from this cache, and a convenient parking area on the downhill side of the road for easy access. The cache is located about 0.9 miles down from the Mt. Pinos parking lot.

To get to the cache will require you to decend about 45 feet down (and back up) a hillside covered in a mix of rocks and pine needles. The cache is stocked with some goodies to make your trip worthwhile. FYI - My young son had no problem either getting to or returning from this cache, other than stopping to rest every 15 verticle ft! :-)

Please rehide the cache better than it was hidden when you found it to offer the same challenge to the next visitor.

In addition to geocaches, have you considered locating Benchmarks? If you have thought about this, finding this cache will offer you a chance to start this pursuit...

While you're in the area, why not consider going for "Mt. Pinos - 8831 ft" (GC3EDD) as another fun cache with a spectacular view? The easy hike to the top takes about 1 1/2 hrs with a young child, so take enough water. The walk back takes half that time.

Have fun!
