Geocache Description:

North Shore Trail Series Celebrates 20th Anniversary!!!
AS OF JULY, 2025

See North Shore Trailhead for information on getting to and parking at the trailhead. Or if you don't plan on doing the whole North Shore Trail series you could take Hook Creek Road in Cedar Glen until it becomes a dirt road and you find yourself very near the cache.

After leaving "The Rock" the trail passes the confluence of Hook Creek and Little Bear Creek. You will come to a point where you will cross the creek on some logs. Take this until the trail ends at the road. Turn left and take the road until you cross the stream and then you will find the "driveway" to the "house".

When in the vicinity of this cache I saw my very first rattlesnake in these mountains. I've known they were here and if you spend enough time in the woods you may encounter one too. This is a good time to remind you to always have a plan to get to a hospital quickly. Fortunately, there is one in the area near the Lake Arrowhead Marina and Northshore campground.

So, who was James Allen and the other residents of 30502 Hook Creek Road. When the cache was placed in 2005 there was a sign giving this name and address for the site. No doubt it is a very sad story.

This cache is a preform container.

If hiking is not your thing you can make a cache and dash out of this one (and #7 & #8) by driving down Hook Creek Road starting in Cedar Glen. An Adventure Pass is recommended.
