Three Wilds Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

black_jack: I've moved and can't maintain this cache as easily any more. Thanks to everyone who found it and wrote such nice things about it. I'm in the Lone Tree area now and hope to have a new cache or two in that area soon.

Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated to my Mom and my dog, Jackson. We used to walk in this park before they both went to heaven last year. Mom would sit on a bench and Jack would play in the water. There’s a nice little stream and under the big cottonwood trees where you get a pleasant rural feeling in an urban setting. The park is busy with soccer, softball, rugby and hurling. Hurling? [go ahead, insert your joke here]. Yeah, I had no idea what the heck it was either, I looked it up on the internet. Hurling is an ancient Gaelic game similar to hockey that is played with a small ball and a curved wooden stick. For you curious sorts, you can learn more at www.gaa.ie.

You are looking for a plaque at the coordinates above. The clues are hidden in the words on the plaque. When you get the letter in the word, convert it to a number using this key: A = 0 (zero), B = 1, C = 2 …and so on to…..Z = 25. Plug the numbers you find into the equation below.

Clue number 1: take the 3rd letter of the last name for Ethan, convert it, it replaces A below

Clue number 2: take the 7th letter from the first name of a former mayor of Denver, convert it, it replaces B below

Clue number 3: take the 3rd letter of the last name of the artist, convert it, it replaces C below

Clue number 4: take the 2nd letter of Mr. Muller’s first name, convert it, it replaces X below

Clue number 5: take the 2nd letter of the first name of Mr. Mundus, convert it, it replaces Y below

Clue number 6: Subtract the year on the plaque from the year this cache was placed, that number replaces Z below

N 39.41.ABC
W 104.54.XYZ

The new coordinates lead to the actual cache. I’ve tried to set the cache away from the park activity but please be discreet. During period of rain the cache could be under water and or very muddy but the ammo can keeps the contents nice and dry. There’s a paved path around the park but the cache is located off the path. There is plenty of parking next to the recreation center. Remember the geocaching golden rule: TRADE UP, TRADE EVEN OR DON'T TRADE.
