Geocache Description:

Good dirt paths most of the way. Easy rocky terrain at mountain stream. 3,6km from car to cache rising from 130 metres to 530 metres elevation.

Follow signs to Helderberg Nature Reserve. Sad, but no dogs. Hours: Nov - April. 7.30 to 7pm May - Oct. 7.30 to 5.30pm Entry fee Park at Information Office. Hours 10 to 4.30pm. Maps available here at R3. All for a good cause. Look out for Bontebok and giant tortoises on the lawns. Quickest way to the cache is keep to the right side of the reserve. Once through "Have I killed a buck today" one can carry straight on up, or head left. The latter is a considerably longer, but more gradual ascent through well established Protea bush. Straight up is shorter and steeper. Once in Disa Gorge, look for a very large boulder on the right hand side of the stream. (Approx. 2m high) A path leaves the ravine to the right immediately after. A reasonably fit person should take approximately 1 hour non-stop walking to the cache. Take drinking water - it is quite a hike. The stream in the gorge should have lovely drinking water in the wetter part of the year. We don't think you can bet on it mid/late summer. Suggestions for added enjoyment: Early morning. Clear day. Take it easy. After finding the cache, return and explore the gorge some more or just sit at the stream and make yourselves a well earned cup of tea on the hiking stove that you lugged up here with you. We know of folks who often come up and make a Sunday morning breakfast. Or treat yourself to tea and scones once back at the Tearoom. Originally contents were : Notebook, pen, read me. Cup & saucer Teaspoons Tea Strainer Tea tin from London Tea Candles Care Bear
