Geocache Description:


This cache is near the summit of Sardine Peak at 8135’ and close to the out of service fire lookout station. The views are beautiful. Please respect the public property and have fun. There is a locked gate leading to Lookout. The cache is not far from the locked gate on the road leading to the Sardine Peak Fire. There is no need to go passed the locked gate to find the cache. Please be responsible and respect the environment by not driving around the locked gate. If you want to go to the top of Sardine Peak and enjoy the spectacular view and the old fire lookout, please park your vehicle and walk the short distance up the road. The USFS is in the process of making improvements to the old Sardine fire lookout and bring it up to the condition to be rentable. Check out (visit link) for more information on rentable fire lookouts by the USFS. This is a great project and a fitting use for such a fine old structure that will help maintain and improve the old fire lookout well into the future. Please support the project and respect the privacy of anyone working or renting the lookout.

The cache is a regular size ammo box with log book, writing tools and standard assortment of cache goodies.

We placed this cache using dirt bikes and ATVs. We recommend dirt bikes, ATVs, 4x4, or Mt. Bikes. It can be done in a two wheel drive vehicle with high clearance. We do not recommend this cache when roads are wet or have snow. Make sure you observe all off road vehicle rules and regulation for the area, have your stickers, tread lightly, don’t drive around locked gates, prevent forest fires, and be prepared with food, water, clothes, and tools. Most of all have fun.

This cache is part of the Two Peaks and a Tree Multi-Cache. This multi-cache requires the finding of three caches; Babbitt Peak Cache, Sardine Peak Cache, and That's a Really Big Juniper Cache. Listed on the lid of the ammo box for each of the three caches is part of the true coordinates for the Two Peaks and a Tree Multi-Cache. All three caches must be found to get the full coordinates.
