Geocache Description:

Located along the Diez Vistas trail in BC Hydro's Buntzen Lake recreation area.

The Diez Vistas trail runs along the ridge line between Buntzen Lake and Indian Arm, affording amazing views of both throughout the entire length of the hike. An apt name for the trail, since Diez Vistas translates as "ten views" from Spanish to English.

There are many great views from the trail, such as Deep Cove in the distance.

The cache is in a little rock cave (at about chest height) just below the Diez Vista #9 viewpoint. No bushwhacking necessary.

If you're bringing a dog, we recommend starting from South Beach. There is a very steep section during the last 300 metres to the ridge. A dog with good climbing skills can make it up, but I fear they would have great difficulty (without owner assistance) getting down.

The cache is a small lock & lock, painted green. It contains nothing except a logbook, a pencil, and a sharpener. No cache gifts are necessary (pins, pendants, geocoins, and very small travel bugs exempt). It would probably be better to save the plastic McGarbage and business cards for the city caches. If you come up here, the reward is in the hike, the exercise, and the beautiful views.

Visit the BC Hydro Buntzen Lake Recreation Area website for more information on the park, including trail maps.
