Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the historical Oakwood Cemetery founded in 1859. While here be sure to check out the other caches hidden here and in the surrounding area. As my first cache I chose a simpler find just for those days that you need a quick fix. The cache has been placed within a couple hundred feet of the old Mortuary chapel. In 1876, architect Joseph Lyman Silsbee designed this chapel. Joseph in later years became the teacher of the infamous Frank Lloyd Wright. If you are not strapped for time while here pick up a walking guide brochure from the front door of the chapel- there is some fascinating information about the cemetery, you could make a whole day of it here caching and learning. If you go to the link www.shadesofoakwood.com and click on Oakwood History, scroll down and you will see a picture of the memorial (Haggerty) you are looking for with a brief history.(Thank you hubbye for the info) The cache itself is a regular pill vile with a log, a pencil and a treasure for the FTF. Feel free to rest in this area after finding this cache- I did receive permission for this hide. As always, have fun, good luck and BYOP just in case. FTF goes to Team Willy Nilly-Congrats.
