Geocache Description:

an easy walk mostly along an old fire road in townsend state forest, cache is on edge of an old horse training track

located inside northeast corner of the track..park at elm street circle off rt 13, just south of the squannacook river driving south from the center of townsend As some have asked it is my understanding the track was a horse training track and the property was owned by the Fessendens. They owned the barrel factory that once stood where Sterilite is now and was a major employer and lived in the large green house next to the dentist's office. There was a bridge crossing the Squanacook behind the factory used to harvest lumber in the area, but only remnants remain.
