Geocache Description:

Using the B3314 Port Quin is sign posted and a National Trust car park and honesty box can be found

A fascinating cove full of mystery and intrigue. From a community of 23 houses and a population of 94 people in 1841 what really happened??? We shall never know but what we do know is that the woman folk up and left. The men were never seen again. Was it a smuggling or fishing disaster? Who knows. Apart from mining (antimony and lead) from local mines pilchard fishing was high on the agenda between August & December. The remains of the fish cellars can still be seen. Forgot to mention dropped off T/B and first to find pound coin but already Janpe has been and gone with both!!!

The cache is located on the cliff path towards Kellan Head. REMEMBER cliff paths can be dangerous and children & dogs should (both) be kept on a lead! Good luck and enjoy this delightful spot.
