Lista er ei halvøy i sørvestlige Vest Agder, og ligger mellom Listaforden i vest og Lyngdalsfjorden i øst. Landforbindelsen er ved Listeid. Ytre del av halvøya er lavland, med det karakteristiske Lista-landskapet, med tett bebyggelse og mye jordbruk. Bakenfor er det sterkt kupert hei-landskap. Lista har vært del av Farsund kommune siden 1965. Det finnes ca 3 mil merkede turstier i Farsund, både langs kysten og i mer kupert turterreng. BATTERI VARNES FORT: Fortet ligger nordvest på Lista, sammen med Varnes fyr. Utsikten er til Hidra og Andabeløy, utenfor Flekkefjord. Batteri Varnes Fort var underlagt artillerigruppe Vanse sammen med Hidra, Marka, Loshavn og Hausvik under 2. verdenskrig. Anlegget var et ledd i den enorme vestvollen som tyskerne bygde langs hele Atlanterhavskysten. (Bare langs den norske vestkysten ble det bygd ca 300 batterier). Man hadde 10,5 cm batterier med 16.000 meter skuddvidde, og en hastighet på 5 skudd pr minutt. To av kanonene stod i kasematt (bombesikkert rom i en festning) med forbindelse opp til kommandotårnet over kanonstillingen. Det var om lag 150 russiske krigsfanger som bygde fortet, men anlegget ble aldri til krigshandlinger. De ca 100 soldatene som var forlagt til Varnes fikk bare drive øvelseskyting. Anlegget ligger i et naturvernområde, så vis hensyn til både dyr på beite og selve landskapet. Opprinnelig innhold: Ku, hest, gris m/ 2 grisunger, geit, sau m/ lam, kalkun, gås, and, høne, hane, katt, selvlysende insekt, 5 ”skattejakt-gullmynter”, klistremerker, loggbok, blyant, blyantspisser, info og FTFC. Lista is a peninsula located in south-west of Vest Agder County, and lies between The Listafjord in west and The Lyngdalsfjord in east. The peninsula is connected with the mainland at Listeid. The outer part of the peninsula is lowland with the characteristic Lista-landscape, with much houses and a lot of farming. Rearward it’s strongly rolling hill landscape. Lista has been a part of Farsund commune since 1965. There’s approximately 18,64 miles ( 30 kilometres) of traced wander paths in Farsund, both in the coast-area and in the hill landscape. VARNES FORT: The fort is located north-west at Lista together with Varnes Lighthouse. There’s a wiew over to the islands Hidra and Andabeløy near Flekkefjord. Varnes Fort was a part of Lista artillery together with Hidra, Marka, Loshavn and Hausvik during the 2. World war. The fort was a part of the huge west-defend witch the Germans did build all along the Atlantic coast. (Along the Norwegian west coast there were build approximately 300 canons). There were 4,13 in (10,5 cm) canons with 52 493,44 feet (16.000 meters) range, and a speed of 5 / minute. Two of the canons had a bomb-safe room connected to the commando tower above the canons. 150 Russian prisoners of war builded all the constructions, but they were never used in action of war. The 100 soldiers who were stationed at Varnes only did shooting-practice. The canon’s is located in a nature-protected area, so you must take care to both the animals whose on pasturage, and also to the nature.
