Geocache Description:

EDITED 04-15-2009

“INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST”

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just a year and a half, the quest has grown to over two hundred seventy caches hidden in twenty-seven Indiana counties, and two Ohio counties, and the hiders have grown to ten cacher teams, nine of which of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 480 cacher teams have logged over 5,400 finds. One cache machine found 102 ISQ caches in a single day (daylight hours only).

INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST #272
”THE CUBE!"

Welcome to Block Cemetery, Salem Township, Stueben County, Indiana, U.S.A.

Listen to what the Mysterious Shadow says:

This is a mid-size cemetery, still active. It's located at a road intersection. Moderate traffic passes through here. Once in the cemetery, you'll have some have privacy. The surrounding fence is the old woven wire type in poor condition. There is a drive that loops in/out of the grounds. The oldest legible marker I saw was dated 1853.

There is a quaint little his & hers over in the corner. I wouldn't advise using it , as groundhogs have set up housekeeping inside. I was able to locate veterans graves from the Civil War to WWII. Most of the apparent Civil War veterans don’t have government markers or any verifying information inscribed.

There are a couple of interesting markers here nonetheless. A WWI & WWII veteran’s stones, plus that of seven month old twins.

This place features an historic bippy. So, another definition of BYOP may serve. Just don't get them mixed up!

** THIS IS A GENUINE INDIANA SPIRIT QUEST CACHE** xxxxx Update, Feb. 7, 2006: Well, some of the recent logs have taken a weird tack. Do I really have to admonish experienced cachers not to describe the cache location in their logs? It appears I do. It's thoughtless and rude. Don't do it. All subsequent logs that describe the cache location will be PERMANENTLY DELETED. Thanks for your cooperation. --LEAD DOG
