Geocache Description:

Tribunj is a typical dalmatian town characterised by narrow streets and close-built houses. Old part of the town is built on an island; a stone bridge has been built later on and connects the island with the mainland where a new town developed. The oldest written document dates back to 1464 and mentions the old name of Tribunj – Triubahunj. Old st. Nicholas church was built in 1452. On the St. Nicholas hill a defence fortress against Turks named Jurjevgrad was built in 1650. During the Venetian reign Tribunj was fortified by walls, the remains of which can still be seen. The curch of Virgin Mary from the year 1435 is situated in the east, on the way to Vodice. Inhabitants of Tribunje, apart from tourism, mainly engage in fishing and agriculture, and they are renewed for growing and production of quality olive oil.
