Before I even left the island from the "Lundy caching event" I said
that I would be back, it is such a beautiful place.
I don't like leaving a job half done, having left one cache not
done on the event, I returned and when I saw this part of the
island............Gannetts bay, it had to be here that I set a new
one.(It was also my nickname at school, Gannett!!)
The view is nothing short of fantastic, and whilst setting it I
was watched inquisitively by two seals. Lundy is renowned for its
wildlife; although I am sure some of it has interbred!!!
During our day on the island, Basking sharks, Dolphins, black
rabbits, and gannets are just a few of the species we saw. I have
already decided that I shall return again soon, next time for
longer.

Puffin recovery
The first puffin chick to be hatched since 1972 has been spotted
on Lundy Island off the north Devon Coast. In the Bristol Channel
Puffins were almost eradicated on the island by the rats, thought
to have arrived from wrecked ships. In 1939 3500 pairs of birds
were recorded, but by 2000 only ten pairs remained.
The cache is a medium sized plastic container.
