Geocache Description:

Probably the most spectacular sunset or moon rise viewing on Oahu. The trail is asphalt so running or walking shoes will be a good choice. Prepare for possible high winds and or bright sun with no shade.

Park at: 21 16.437N 157 41.989W on Nawiliwili Dr. If you are going to be taking in a sunset, be sure to park underneath a street light. You'll understand this better upon your return, the street is really dark.

To find trailhead walk back onto the main highway and head up the hill for a short distance. Pass two driveways on your right and then look for a concrete barrier at N21 16.488 W157 41.882. On the other side of this barrier is a dirt trail that will lead you to the main asphalt trail at N21 16.450 W157 41.848

Once you step onto the asphalt trail, be sure that your GPS tracking is on and to mentally mark the nearby telephone pole so you can find this trail on the way back down... have we mentioned that it gets -really-dark around these parts?

At some point in your upward stroll, you'll have a bird's eye view of Hanauma Bay on one side and Hawaii Kai on the other. We hope you'll also enjoy views in the distance of Koko Head, Makapuu, Waikiki and Diamond Head. Team Geoblast thinks you'll agree that all the huffing and puffing that you did was worth it when you discover this place and watch that big orange ball disappear from this vantage point.

If you pick the right night, you can take in the sunset, then walk 200 yards to the other side of the hill and then watch the full moon rise out of the ocean. How cool is that?

You won't have to go too far to find another adventure if you can hang out after the sunset here. Very near to where you are now is the beginning of our now infamous night cache, The Sacred Moonrise and The Case of The Twisted Kitty (GCWAZF). See the hint, you will be so happy you did.
