Harp Mountain Slog Traditional Cache

Greatland Reviewer: Dear Cache Owner:

I have been going through caches that have multiple "DNF" (did not find) logs, which is often a sign that a cache is missing. Generally cachers avoid hunting a cache with many DNF logs, so it is a good idea for the Cache Owner to check the cache and either replace it or post a log to the cache page to tell fellow geocachers that the cache is still there, but they might need new eyeglasses. No action by the Cache Owner may result in a cache being archived to keep the cache from appearing in local Pocket Queries.

Please reenable the cache page after you have maintained your cache. To reenable the cache, go to the cache from your Account page on GC.com. Under "Admin Tools" in the upper right-hand corner, click "Enable," write your note and click "Submit log entry."

Geocache Description:

Summit Series #2

This ended up being an unplanned placement on an amazingly beautiful peak...It is the second highest cache in the anchorage bowl to date (second only to the williwa cache). This one won't take the heart of a mountain goat to get to, but put on your mountain legs because it is a bit of a climb (2600' in a couple miles). The views are spectacular. I spotted a bear den due north--please note if you see any activity. It is about a mile away so there is no risk. Bring your topo map and spend some time looking at the surrounding peaks...study them well. Who knows which one will be the next addition to MTboy's summit series! On a clear day this peak provides you with a "who's who" look of the western Chugach mountains.

Avalanches are a risk in the winter...be wise! It should be winter accessible if you are safe...

This is a good early season climb but there will be some snow to cross on the ridge. The cache will be snow free most, if not all of the year.

As I like to do, I hid it amongst the small cliff band directly below the summit. The cache is about 4 feet off of the ground.
