Colliers Travel Bug Inn Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

flynnsbeach: Hi,

I have checked very frequently since this cache vanished and asked around, and even offered a reward for the TBs but still no sign of the cache, its contents, or worst still...the Travel Bugs :(

That is a shame since it is such an amazing spot to visit and I would really like to have located the Travel Bugs at least to sent them along their journey. Maybe they still may turn up sometime down the road?

I can only conclude that some vandals are obviously aware of the cache's general location so it is pointless to replace it again. I am reluctant to rehide another one in a new area nearby.

So I, reluctantly, must archive the Colliers Travel Bug Inn Cache. Thanks to all who did visit it and for your favourable comments. We enjoyed hearing from you and good luck with your geocaching adventures !!!

Geocache Description:

Quick Stop while you are spending some time visiting the 18 geocaches hidden in six mile radius of the scenic Colliers area. Feel free to drop in and visit the "Travel Bug Inn". Bring a picnic basket and have lunch by the riverside.

Enjoyable hiking trail that that will lead you to the Colliers Travel Bug Inn. Exchange a Travel Bug with one of the current residents and help them on their way. Please rehide carefully as you found it since this is a high traffic area at times.

Just in terms of trivia, the Travel Bugs in the "Travel Bug Inn" (when it initially opened on July 18, 2005) had collectively travelled over 36,444 kms. That's almost three times the diameter of the earth at the equator. Safe to say these guys have been around. They also got together for a photoshoot for a magazine while visiting Colliers. So keep an eye out for these characters in pictures somewhere soon :)

There are a number of ways to approach this cache. The most scenic and driest is to drive in Ghaney's Road in Colliers and park by the Recreation Centre. After that follow the hiking trail/boardwalk down by the swimming hole for less than half a mile along a beautiful little river. If you go any other way you are going to get wet crossing the river.

The cache itself is a small white beef bucket. It is well hidden in the most logical place. Think about it and you'll be right upon the answer :)

This is the eleventh in a series of caches being hidden by Flynnsbeach and Bittensticks. Make note of the codewords in the logbooks as there will be a special prize for those geocachers who find ANY TEN of them :)

Care and caution is (as always) advised as the surrounding rocks can be very slippery when wet or icy.

Cache contents at the time of hiding were:

A Gazillion Travel Bugs including:

Curby Mail Truck Travel Bug
Sam The Seal Travel Bug
Sloppy Joe Lizard Travel Bug
Train Wreck Travel Bug
Silent Witness Travel Bug
Jeep Travel Bug
Hairy Leaf Travel Bug
Butt Ugly Colonel Dowaph Travel Bug
Light Of Labrador Travel Bug

Also a few toy soldiers for regular non travel bug traders.
