Horsetail Falls Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

Time for some Autumn clean-up before the snow begins to fall.

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of a timely response to a prior Reviewer Note and/or because the Cache Owner has not been online for several months. If the owner would like to have it reinstated, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Cache is a smaller size ammo can located near the end of Horsetail Falls Trail in Whittier. The Forest Service has "paved" the trail with planks and large rocks that make access to this cache relatively easy despite the fact that you are climbing to about a 700ft elevation.
Take the road that passes in front of the old delabidated Buckner Building (can't miss that eyesore) and take the first right after the building. Follow the dirt road to the second bend where you will see a wooden sign stating the trailhead. There is limited parking but there hasn't ever been a time when I couldn't park there. During the July, August and September you will find an abundance of salmon berries and blueberries but please be warned that you are in bear country with high brush on either side of the trail at some points. My father and my son hiked this trail in December (very little snow fall that year), but I haven't ever done the winter hike. Enjoy the views on the way to this cache......SO much beauty all around!
