Leh Lunar Landscape Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Minnesota Dave: Have received confirmation that this cache is gone. Thanks for the careful searching to confirm. It was such a good spot I thought it was the safest cache I had! It was in the middle of nowhere..... and even there the muggles ended up winning the day. As I think it may be years or never that I will ever get up to the location again, I will have to archive this and leave to others to hide new ones once the rock collectors have calmed down their activity.

Geocache Description:

The cache is hidden behind some rocks under a large boulder in a barren area.

This is the closest site I could find to Leh that was public, isolated and not too near any major religious site. There is a dirt road and trail leading to the site making this a fairly eco-friendly geocaching trek.

The cache is hidden behind a collection of stones which are taking shelter under a large boulder approximately in the middle of the ravine you will find yourself in. The boulder is dark in color, and has a crack down the middle with grass growing out of it. It has a smaller boulder leaning against it. The cache is behind some stones which are on the mountain side of the boulder, the side that is away from the road. A couple other smaller rock piles are nearby but those are just diversions that I put there to divert possible muggles.

However, there really should be no problem with muggles when you go. I saw none in two trips I made up there. But do bring sunscreen and water! The terrain is not totally moon-like actually... a little bit of moss and grass are seen around. This cache can be walked to from Leh, or better yet from Changspa. And if you continue up the green valley after finding the cache, it is all scenic and peaceful as well. Enjoy! PS Though no one has had trouble finding the cache, some said my coordinates are a little off, maybe by 20 metres or so. But these people did not post the coordinates they had! If you find the same result, please do mark and post the coordinates you get, and I am glad to revise.
