Geocache Description:

4 km drive from the town of Trinity and an easy 10 min walk to the cache

This cache is hidden at Green Island Cove located on the south side of Trinity. Take Rte239 to Dunfield and continue on the dirt road towards Fort Point lighthouse. The road if a little tough in spots but perfectly safe for driving. At the bottom of a steep hill is a small pond on the right and the remnants of the foundation of a whale factory on the left near the salt water. Park on the right. A road leads up a hill to the right, but it is badly washed out. We prefer to take the trail around the top of the pond. It is clearly visible in the grass. At the top of the hill is another small pond and eventually the trail will join the road made for the movie set and leads to a grassy field open to the ocean. This is Green Island Cove - look for the island - popular with seabirds. Walk towards the ocean keeping to the right until the village of Dunfield is visible, this is Dunfield from the ocean side. The cache is hidden between 2 large boulders.
Green Island Cove was the site for some scenes in the move 'The shipping News' starring Kevin Spacey - released in 2001 - The old house of the 'Quoyles' that blew down in the movie was erected here. It is also a good site for whale watching and picnicing.
