Geocache Description:

The nicest points on the beautyful Corfu island! Total length is about 60km. I updated this description on June 10, 2008 because one of the waypoints changed a little. Happy Hunting!

During this quest you will see some of the nicest points of the beautyful Corfu island! Total length is about 60km. It is possible for die-hards to find the cache in one day, you also can spread it over two or three days if you prefer. Because most of the roads are pretty good, you can use a scooter for finding the cache. Hunting by car/jeep is also possible. When seeking for our cache you will get close to the Ouzo2 cache by …… perhaps you can combine seeking these two caches. We would appreciate it if you make a lot of pictures for us.

Happy hunting!

The quest starts at one of the most visited places of Corfu island; the former palace of empress Elizabeth (also known as Sissi!). The palace used to be Sissi’s holiday home.

At the entrance you will see a green gate with something written on top of it in gold. How many characters do you count?
(A =

Feel free to visit the palace and the beautiful gardens. In the garden you will find a bronze statue of Achilles and a nice view of Kérkyra.

The next coordinate might be a bit tricky to find but you will get a very nice view of the famous Pontikoníssi and the Vlachérna-monastery. You can reach this point by scooter (be careful!) or by feet. If you spend some time here you can observe some airplanes departing and landing very closely.

At the coordinate you will see a yellow lamp. Count the number of screws located around the glass!
(B = ............)

Goto: N 39° 37.3645 E 19° 55.4930

Next head for the old part of Kérkira. At this coordinate nearby the old fortress you will find a monument. You will see seven illustrations with something written in greek under each of them. Which text belongs to the illustration below? Choose one from the answers below…! (C) Kérkyra is really worth a visit. Be sure not to miss both the fortresses, the old harbour and the Esplanade-gardens!
