A udot traffic camera near Layton Hills mall and I-15
Do not go to the posted coordinates!!! They are in the middle of the intersection, and are only meant to get you close. Due to the way they keep pointing it in different directions the cordinates are never going to be right. I would suggest looking at where the cam is pointing before you drive there. The main reason for this cache is I figured we needed a webcam cache betweeen Logan and Salt Lake. Now some of you "locals" who have been dreading the drive to SLC to add a webcam icon to your list can do it right here in Layton. This can be done 2 ways, either call a friend from your mobile phone and have them save the image as a jpeg, or pull it up on your smart phone and do a screen capture. Some times UDOT likes to face the camera in different directions this is the reason for the difficulty rating of 2. Part of the challange of this cache is figuring out which way the camera is facing, and then getting you in front of it. The camera can be accessed directly at http://udottraffic.utah.gov/1_devices/aux315.jpeg or http://udottraffic.utah.gov/ and click on the ogden red square and look for the camera link near I-15 at Gordon Ave. and Hill Field Rd. This camera refreshes about every five minutes. Be sure to upload your photo. ADDED 5/9/2007: The whole point of this cache was to get your picture posted on here. JUST TO BE CLEAR, YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK OF GETTING YOUR PICTURE SAVED TO YOUR COMPUTER ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. LOGS WITHOUT A PICTURE BEING UPLOADED AS PROOF YOU WERE THERE WILL BE DELETED. Added 9/6/07: NO MORE NIGHT SHOTS, MUST BE ABLE TO SEE YOU!!! Added 10/20/09: A geocaching reviewer is requiring all photos be from the actual web cam, part of an email I recently received from the reviewer. "The premise behind a webcam is that the webcam must take an identifiable picture of cacher with the camera at the listed location" Also please do not pull over into the emergency lane on the freeway, I would hate for someone to get killed on accident just because they were trying to get a picture.
