Echo Lake Stash
The Cache: The container is a
Lock&Lock hidden at the coordinates above, and under a large
piece of bark. If the bark is broken, please look around for
a new piece.
TIP: If your GPS receiver is not getting a
good signal, go to the meadow at the south end of the lake and
stand there for about 10 - 15 minutes to allow the unit to acquire
signals.
The
Trail: There are a number of different ways to
get to Echo Lake. We came in through the Greenwater
Lakes Trailhead, making for a 14 mile round trip. You
will need a NW Forest parking pass at the trailhead.
There are other alternatives though, Coral Pass is shorter but
much steeper. Camping at the lake is incredible, and the
fish were jumping the whole time we were there. If you
take the Greenwater Lakes trail, there is an important
intersection at N47° 04.619 W121° 26.597, go right up the hill
to get to Lost Lake, or left down the hill to Echo Lake.
There is a cache at the southern Greenwater Lake, another at Lost Lake, and one more at Noble Knob. Get a good topo or
GreenTrails map and loop them all together!
Kids and Dogs: Both are allowed on
these trails. This is a great hike for kids to do an
overnighter on. There are a few good campsites along the lake
and a few you'll pass on the way if they can't make it there.
There are plenty of dog watering opportunities along the Greenwater
Trail, and the trail itself is very paw friendly.
