Welcome to the “ROCK”
If you have been skiing at Lost Trail like I have since the mid 60’s, you know about the NORTH FACE and the FAMOUS “ROCK”! Many have launched off this baby, but none with more style and panache than my buddy GREG. Greg was a great skier and my best friend since high school. Many a time we would cruise off the top on our 200++ skis… crank out 2 or 3 tight turns and one after the other, we would go AERIAL in different directions….. those were the days.. even before the first chairlift in 1973… we did the ROCK!

This is a TRIBUTE Cache to my buddy Greg who passed away in 1998 from MS… I want to remember him as the wild boy that tamed the ROCK oh, yeah, there was many times the ROCK tamed GREG.. Spectacular crashes with equipment spread for hundreds of feet! Greg always came up with a “S@$% Eating” grin… and a hoot that let you know you were alive.

I was in Washington DC when Greg went to that great ski area in the sky and I missed his funeral…. Still every year, I make a trek to this rock and pour out a beer in his honor… he had a saying every time we would stop on the mountain for a cool brewski…. He would pour out a bit and say “TO THE BROTHERS NO LONGER WITH US”

If inclined …. Please do the same!

I have included some fun stuff…. Things that I have found on this mountain.. over the years.. and other things.. I started with a collectors spoon from mt. Vernon (the home of George Washington) that is where I was when I got the phone call about his death. A geo-caching pencil, a “dare to dream” rubber bracelet, a purple carabineer, a “INTERNATIONAL SPY MUESUM postcard, a cell phone clip, Puppy poopie, opener (for the tribute ) , tennis racket key chain, and a glow stick, a disposable camera.. take some photos and let me know when the camera is full!I will add a piece every time I return something from my travels and I will dig up some photos..

Please sign the log and if you knew Greg, leave some memories!
Thanks,
Cashmando and Montanacash
