Geocache Description:

A micro-cache in Sheffield's Endcliffe Park with a story attached.

Many people who live in this part of Sheffield will probably already know about this story but I live nearby and only found out about it recently when a friend was doing research for an animated film he was making on WWII bombers (which you can see at: (visit link)

On 22 February 1944, the Mi Amigo, a B-17 flying fortress, crash-landed into Endcliffe Park killing the ten US crew members. The event is commemorated at this memorial and with an annual ceremony.

An article from a 2001 edition of "Stars and Stripes" about the Mi Amigo, its crew and their commemoration in Endcliffe Park can be found at: (visit link)

The above coordinates will take you to the cache site, which is not far from the memorial. However, there is a lot of tree coverage so apologies if they are not spot on.
