Geocache Description:

This easy urban cache is the second in a series of caches which will lead finders to view the glories of huge public artworks in the "Chicagoland" area.

This is an offset cache. The coordinates listed above will take you to the Big Art in all its glory.

To find the actual cache, you'll need to make an observation, do some simple arithmetic, and find the final waypoint using "waypoint projection". Many GPSrs can do this calculation directly. Otherwise, a calculator program like this web-based one will easily compute a second waypoint given the direction and distance of the offset.

Formerly, you had to check the artists name, but the plaque on the art has become illegible! So now, to find this cache, cross the street and check out the rock, which says "Garden ... by ______ Garden Club". Count the letters in that one-word name, and multiply that number by 22. The offset to the cache is that number of feet. The direction of the offset is 133° from true north.

The cache itself is a bison tube, attached in a typical way. Please be sure that the cache is well attached when replacing it. The cache contains only a log sheet, so bring your own writing implement... there is no space for trade items.

There is also a nice mural near the final... this is not the art, even if it is big and bright. Still, feel free to enjoy it.

Because this is a high-traffic area, stealth will be necessary to protect the cache from vandals. This is an upscale city neighborhood... alert city manners are always appropriate, but it is not particularly dangerous here, even at night. There is often free on-street parking to be found nearby.

Note that while the area nearby is a busy dog park, the city requires some sort of special dog-in-park permit... which means that visiting geo-dogs are probably not ok, unless they're sneaky.
