The stone work was done long ago by AC Fischer, whose grandson is the late John Fischer of Harbor Springs and one of the Little Traverse Conservancy’s founders. Mr. Fischer was skilled in stone work and loved the Roaring Brook area. Because the flow of the brook was low, the saying is that he wanted to put the “roar” back in Roaring Brook. (The "neighborhood" where this cache is located is called Roaring Brook) He had the wells drilled into the shallow artesian aquifer, and did the stone work around the fountains himself. He also placed a few cedar logs across the brook in a few places so that the water, tumbling over the log, made a pleasant waterfall sound.
