Geocache Description:

Since Greenbelt Bird Asylum disappeared during the re-construction of the trail, and its location is a great on to visit, we are placing Greenbelt Bird Asylum II.

The cache is located on the Capital Area Greenbelt, on a section in a wetlands area created by a creek called Asylum Run. This is also part of the National Bluebird Trail.

In order to avoid trespassing on private property, start your hike at the trailhead in Veterans Park, or at the State Hospital Grounds, but if you choose this one, make sure you go past the cache and visit the observation area.

Approaching the cache from the north or south will appear easier, but please don’t. You will trespass from the North, and from the south you will traverse the wetlands, which shouldn’t be disturbed. NO BUSHWACKING REQUIRED!

The cache is micro in size. You do NOT have to leave the trail to find it. Many railings have been placed during the reconstruction to keep the habitat intact, so please respect them. There is no room in the cache for anything but a log, so please bring your own pen.
