A small cache in a cool place.
After you leave highway 42, stay to the left and go past the cemetery.
My all time favorite beach. The scene of uncountable childhood memories. Hundreds of shooting stars, some huge, lighting up the whole bay. Northern lights. Canoe rides. No Sand! (Water shoes are recommended.) The area directly from the paved road to the water is open for public use.
My ancestors, Ole and John Thorsen, came to this spot in the 1850’s straight from Norway and set up their lives. The cache marks the place of a thriving port for those times with a huge dock, a blacksmith shop, and a residence. One time a ship docked carrying the bodies of two sailors who had died from TB. The ancestors donated a section of the property to bury the men. It has since become Little Sister Cemetery back up the road.
A peaceful bay and a popular spot for scuba diving, boating, swimming because of the shelter of the bluffs, it can also be wild and raucus when the North Blow arrives. The big storms are the reason for the polished stones.
It can be a popular place, especially on hot summer days and weekends, so stealth may be required. The cache is a small metal tin. Bring a writing utensil as the original is no longer there. Please return it carefully. Thanks!
If you wish, you can stop at the fabulous Fred and Fuzzy's Waterfront Bar and Grille. Please drive around (back past the cemetery and then to the left) as the beach is private. Thanks!
Please post your pictures!
And please don't steal the rocks. There is not an endless supply. Leave them for future generations.
