The rumours say that a young boy named Billy was abandoned here as a young child by his parents in the 1930s. He was left behind with only the clothes on his back and a tattered stuffed bear with the name Leo embroidered on it. Why his parents abandoned Billy here, if in fact they did, or whether perhaps Billy simply got lost in the overpowering valley below while out playing one day, is still not completely known. Many people have different theories.
There have been several stories over the years from hikers and passersby of sights of a young boy dragging a teddy bear behind him. Also similar stories of a man and even more so now, an elderly man, with a similar teddy bear. But still to this day people swear that they have sightings of the young Billy and his teddy bear.
It certainly couldn't be the same Billy that went missing so many decades ago. Near this spot where you stand, once stood the old Glen Eagles Hotel. Many patrons of the Glen Eagles Hotel also stated that they have seen both the boy and the elderly man. It's believed that Billy would come to the hotel in search of food and other discarded items. One night the hotel had caught fire. However what a firefighter found the next morning in the burned remains behind the hotel sent chills down many spines of those who knew the story about Billy. There in the dirt behind the hotel lay an old tattered teddy bear. And stitched on this bear was a name...Leo! Could all these rumours of a lost boy by the name of Billy be true?

For the next several days people searched the hillsides and valley below in the hopes of finally putting a rest to some of these rumours. Certainly the find of the teddy bear put some truth and at the same time more questions in the minds of the people who heard the countless stories of Billy. Of course, Billy was never found. However over the years there are still the odd reports of sightings of either a young boy or an old man dressed in rags.
The last known sighting came two years ago by a young couple who were sitting enjoying the views at 2am in the morning on a cool summer night. They say a ragged old man walked right by them, stopped and then looked at them for a few seconds, as they sat there with a sense of fear and amazement. The man seemed to utter the word "Leo" as if asking a question. Then he simply continued on straight down the hillside into the valley below where they swear the aged man disappeared into the darkness and a young child could then be seen, but only for a moment. This was the last ever reported sighting of what may have been Billy.
After all these years, is Billy still walking around in the Rouge somewhere? Perhaps looking for his lost teddy bear, Leo? Perhaps if you come here at 2am you might just get a glimpse of Billy. Have a look for yourself at the posted coordinates and be sure to note the year that the Glen Eagles Hotel permanently closed. Take the year and divide it by 1000 and add that to both N43 46.525 and W79 07.857. **If the information board is missing at stage one, I have given the coords for stage 2 in the additional waypoints.**
If you go to these new coordinates you might find some old artifacts that some say Billy had collected over the years. Count up the number of artifacts that you find and divide it by 1000. Add that to both N43 48.502 and W79 09.820 and go there to leave a message for Billy. Maybe even leave him a little present somewhere in the valley and check back in a few days to see if Billy has visited and taken your gift.
Make sure you keep a close lookout for Billy and please report any sightings. Maybe even bring a camera incase you do spot him. Billy might still very well be out there somewhere. Perhaps he is even watching you!
