Steve Sorensen - Another View Traditional Cache
PaperbackWriters: I am sorry to say that I moved away from the area and have not returned as often as I'd hoped. It sounds as though this cache is ready for the archive. RIP, Steve...never forgotten.

Another view of fallen hero LA County Deputy Sheriff Steve Sorensen.
Residents of Southern California will recall the senseless death of my friend Steve Sorensen. He was shot and killed August 2, 2003, on what was supposed to be his day off, while trying to help a resident of northern Los Angeles County.
There have been many tributes in the media which centered on his career with the Sheriff's Department and his untimely passing (and deservedly so), but I thought it would be nice to memorialize some of the other aspects of his life by planting this cache on the second anniversary of his death.
One of Steve's first jobs was as a bouncer in the Los Angeles area. He also worked as a lifeguard for Los Angeles County. Before serving as a deputy sheriff, Steve was an MP in the United States Army.
In the early 90's, Steve joined the LA County Sheriff's Department, where he and I went through the academy together, then went on to work together in the jails and on patrol until his passing.
He loved his country. He loved animals, especially his horse. He loved the people he served, and even secretly purchased groceries with his own funds for needy people he met while on duty. Most of all, he loved his wife Chris and his newly adopted son Matty.
In the cache, you'll find items related to most of what I've mentioned here. Enjoy the items, as well as a nice view of western Simi Valley and a nearby park you may not have been aware of. This cache is kid friendly, with relatively easy access. Please hide it well when you're done!
