This one is down to earth. Grassroots level, if you like. If you enjoy snipping away at the perennials, or sprinkling some 2:3:2, then this is your cache. The theme’s GARDENING. So bring some gardening goodies and take some gardening goodies. The container is just too small for a stray garden gnome!
Take a civilized stroll through the magnificent Kirstenbosch Garden. Do enjoy a cup of tea and a scone as you pursue the clues. Take every meandering path you find, and shamelessly inhale the fresh mountain air.
The coordinates above will lead you to the entrance of the Kirstenbosch gardens. Take your time, enjoy the scenery and meander through the clues to reach the cache.
Amble 1: S 33° 59.375, E 018° 26.012. Very scared trees, these are. They are estimated to be (A)40 million years old.
Detour 2: S 33° 59.231, E 018° 25.913. Take these steps – the upper lot - to the place of tea and cucumber sandwiches (really!). You will find 1(B) concave steps beneath your feet.
Stroll 3: S 33° 59.317, E 018° 25.868. Not quite a chronometer this is, but it will tell you if you should head back for tea. The stone carving features (C) rays in total.
Saunter 4: S 33° 59.338, E 018° 25.797. Ah! The mighty Podocarpus Falcatus, the Outeniqua Yellowwood. What grace and magnificence. Find the little plaque that proclaims its number of 122(D)/14.
Meander 5: S 33° 59.363, E 018° 25.746. A Bird bath of sorts. The land you will find it upon was purchased in 18(E)1.
Wander 6: S 33° 59.371, E 018° 25.560. A grande view of the distant mountains, a sloping green lawn and a proud stand of proteas. A proud heritage indeed. The information board is numbered 1(F).
Roam 7: S 33° 59.(A)(C minus B)(F times A), E 018° 25.(D minus E)(C)0. Not far now! Sit down and tell us what year the Professor was born: 19(G)2.
Depart from the clue above and steer your way to S 33° 59. (A)(E plus F)0, E 018° 25.(G plus A)(F)(G). Please tread lightly, and find the cache tucked away behind some smaller rocks and sticks.
