This cache hunt is a scavenger
hunt. It will take you on about a 1 mile walk around Muggletown,
Maine, (actual distance will be determined by you not me). You
might want to cache hunt while your wife shops.
The above co-ords take you to a
traffic light on the north end of town. (This is a short hop off
the interstate). You can park anywhere you find space between here
and the next traffic light south.
The scavenger hunt covers main
street from the above co-ords to just a bit past the traffic light
on the south end of town (51.279 & 06.430 - about 1/2 mile
away). You will have to find the numerical answers to the questions
below.
1) What year was the Harrington
House built? _______
2) What is the street address for
Thos. Moser Cabinetmaker? _____
3) What year was this town
established? _____
4) What is the towns zip code?
___________
5) When was the Jamison Tavern
built? ________
Add up the above answers =
_________
Add your answer to 43.41.883 for
your north co-ord. _________________
6) What is the street address of
the Nicholson Inn? _____
7) What year was the First Parish
Church established? _______
8) Since when has the primary
business in this town been in business? _________
9) What year did Lindt start in
business? I've been informed that Lindt is gone, but the answer is
1845. HD.
10) This building should never
have had a misspelled name. What year was it built?
_________
Add up the answers to these
questions.
Subtract that answer from
070.13.756 for your west co-ord.
You will know the co-ords are
right by a common sense deduction when you see the object in front
of you. The cache is within 30 feet of this object and to your
right. (I know what direction your facing) The cache is small and
hidden, but your Geo caching powers should find it with no real
problems. The challenge is not as much in finding it as it is in
retrieving it without muggles seeing you, so be clever and take
your time so as not to give away its location.
Remember this is Muggletown, and
you will not need your gpsr until you have all the answers. Once
you get to the cache itself, and once your sure of where it is,
practice your "removing a cache in front of muggles"
routine.
This was loads of fun to set up,
and the cache was placed with muggles as close as 15 feet, and they
never knew what we were doing, HeHeHe.
Good luck and have fun with
this.
