breakfast, then spend the day enjoying the Fall colors while
you go caching! (Halloween costumes welcome, but
optional!) Please

provide an estimated count to the restaurant. (But come
anyway even if you didn't get to log a "will
attend"!)

DIRECTIONS:
C'mon now, you're geocachers, do you really need directions?
Spring Hill Mall is at the northwest corner of Illinois Routes 31
& 72 in West Dundee. From the Northwest Tollway (I-90), exit at
Illinois 31 North or Randall Road North, go to Illinois 72. If you
are coming up Illinois 31, you're there; if you're coming up
Randall Road, turn right on Illinois 72 to Spring Hill Mall. Old
Country Buffet is on the northeast side of the mall.
SPECIAL EVENT CACHES:
You betcha! A dedicated crew of volunteers is hard at work on a
series of brand new caches to be placed along the western side of
the beautiful Fox Valley, from West Dundee to Aurora (more or
less). Final count is 26
new permanent caches in place for
the event. We plan to have GPX files and printed condensed HTML
listings available at the event, starting shortly after 09:30,
immediately after the awarding of door prizes. These permanent
caches will not be publicly posted on geocaching.com until later
that day, so attending the event gives you first shot at these new
caches -- don't miss it!
There will be at least one USB flash drive and
several CDs available for those who wish to copy files onto their
own notebook computer. In addition, there will be two or more
notebook PCs with GSAK for anyone who wishes to download the event
cache data directly into their GPSr -- at least one of these will
be set up for Magellan eXplorist users. You will need to provide
your own cable for downloads. If you have other needs, please
contact WascoZooKeeper and we will do our best to
accommodate you.
GOOGLE EARTH:
Your event planner just downloaded Google Earth and has
been having way too much fun with it. Therefore, along with
the GPX files and printed HTML listings (see above), there will
probably be KML files available too. Kewl!!
TRAVEL BUGS:
We'll be trying something new at this event. There will be a
check-in/check-out procedure for Travel Bugs. Drop off your bugs at
the designated area and attach a simple temporary tag that has your
GC name and the bug's ID on it. When you pick up a bug, you fill in
your GC name and turn in the tag. That way we'll have a record of
who took every bug and (we hope) not end up with any bugs
"orphaned" at the event. We'll try to keep this as simple and
painless as possible! Please make sure all
bugs have a goal tag, even if it just says "No specific goal" --
thanks! A big "Thank you!" to our volunteer bug-tender,
FallenFaery.
WAY COOL EVENT TOKENS:
Thanks to Special Ed, we will have custom event tokens
for the first 50 attendees who have recorded "Will Attend" logs
prior to the event! Thanks, Ed!
DOOR PRIZES:
Thanks to Stunod and trippy1976 for providing door prizes for
this event! Contributions of more door prizes are welcome;
please contact WascoZooKeeper if you have items or services
to offer as additional door prizes.
BUG DROP LOGS:
For the sake of event page space, notes which are only a bug
drop or coin drop will be deleted. This will not affect the
drop itself.
