You can drive to within five feet of this cache. You can also park at the Mason’s Cemetery and walk to it on a road. No bushwhacking needed here. PLEASE re hide well, and be nice to the landscape.
This cache, “Devil’s Gate” is interestingly situated between the Masons Cemetery and the Catholic Cemetery. When looking down to the south about two miles you can see the real Devil’s Gate on Hwy 342. This cache is an ammo can with the usual swag items. Keep your trades fun for the next geocacher, please.
Devils Gate, a narrow pass at the Southern end of the road to Gold Hill served as the location of a Toll House and Village. This "Gate" and tollhouse was an important Comstock landmark. Beginning in the summer of 1859 this gate was the entrance for thousands of enterprising miners from California to the Comstock Lode.

Take a hike on over to the Catholic cemetery, not much left, but kind of neat. Also take a look at the Masons Cemetery, I volunteered with the BLM to record grave stones in 1999, some of the markers were made of wood and were not readable, now they are gone as it appears a fire has gone through since then. The black fence surrounding the cemetery is new also. All is still very interesting.
Take only photos leave only footprints and Enjoy this area.
