We have given this a 2.5 terrain rating just because there is a little bit of a steep hill in the trail to the cache.
A little history about Rockport Marine Park.
This is a wonderful place at the site of the old Rockport Lime Kilns. These were used in the early 1900's to convert limestone rock from nearby quarries into lime for use in mortar and finish plaster.
There is a Vulcan Steam Locomotive on display. This is not the original, but similar to the ones used to haul limestone from the quarries to the kilns.
Also home to André, a harbor seal who spent his winters at the New England Aquarium in Boston and his summers in Rockport Harbor. Every spring for over 20 years the Seaquarium would release him and André would swim north to Rockport. It was always a high point for local residents when he reappeared. He was the honorary harbormaster. André died in 1986 and there is now a marble statue of him located in the park. It was always so great as a child looking forward to seeing André in the harbor.
There is lots of room to run and play, there are many picnic tables and benches for resting, and a great little beach. The Harbor Master's building has a public bathroom, showers, and even laundry.
We have placed this cache here in hopes to share such a beautiful place and one with some interesting history. You will find a small trail behind the Harbor Master's building. This is where you will find the cache. Please, keep an eye out for mugglers as this is a busy little place. And of course, please replace it as found.
Cache is a Tupperware container with a blue cover. This is a very high muggle area. During summer months, the trees are full, other times of the year, be careful, you are in better sights of muggles.
