This cache is dedicated to my geocache fellows John and his son William who took the time during their travelling through Europe to visite the wonderfull city of Bruges, and to complete their visit by searching for a brand new cache that I worked out the week before their arrival. The trip from WP1 to the stach will lead you through one of the oldest parts of Bruges. Enjoy the walk, use your eyes and imagination, but don’t stop at every pub you pass by, or you will never get at the final.
So John and William, I hope you enjoyed your staying in Bruges in the weekend of 6 and 7 August 2005.
First you have to go to WP1 at N51°12.721 – E003°14.165 where you have to search for an alu-tag with three numbers : A = xxx
Go to WP2 = N51°A+11.862 – E003°A+13.127
There you will find a statue. Look good at the position this ‘man’ takes and choose to get the numbers for B :
- the ‘man’ is sitting : B = 222
- the ‘man’ is laying down : B = 333
- the ‘man’ is standing : B = 444
- the ‘man’ is flying : B = 555
Go to WP3 = N51°B+12.337 – E003°B+13.364
Here you will find the year the first owners started their ‘business’. The year is C : xxxx
Go to WP4 = N51°C+11.332 – E003°.C+12.370
Now you are standing in front of a panel that indicates what foundation realised the building of the houses (2 words). Count the number of letters of those two words, that will give you D.
Go to WP5 = N51°12.D95 – E003°14.09D
Here you are standing in front of the house were the famous Flemish Writer Guido Gezelle died at the age of … years. You have to look for a phrase he wrote, and that is marked here between “…”. Just count the number of letters, what will give you E.
Go to WP6 = N51°12.E+779 – E003°14.E+169
These is an ideal place to rest a while before marching up to the cache. But before resting you have to search for a small alu-tag with 3 numbers on it, what will give you F.
Tip : go standing on the top of the highest ‘tree’, look down and search for the ‘tree’ in the middle of the spoiler photo.
Now up to the cache at N51°X – E003°X+1123. You can calculate the exact position of the cache with the following formula :
X = A + (B * D) + C + (E * F)
And after finishing this cache, go back to WP3, sit down and ENJOY !!!!
