Geocache Description:

This is a nice hike which leads to a great look out point. PARK AT N34 16.321 W116 50.756,(Pioneer Ln). THE CACHE is located at N34 16.492 W116 50.754. The high terrain rating is only because of the minor rock scrambling that is required to locate the cache for the last minute of walking.

This cache's location is a great area to eat lunch and to explore the indian grinding rocks, they are located at **N34 16.417 W116 50.801**. This area of the mountain is rich in archaeological sites. In the summer of 04' there was an excavation, and some of the items found were a fire pit, tools, a dug out house, grinding stones (metates), and various other artifacts. Big Bear was used as the Serrano Indian summer camp due to the plentiful hunting and nice weather. The distance as a bird flys from Pioneer Ln to the cache is about .214 miles. It takes from 5-15 minutes to reach the caches location. There are many trails that will lead to or near the cache so major bushwhacking isnt needed to reach the cache. You can also avoid most of the rock scurring by taking the trails to the FAR right and up towards some houses and then by following the trail as it curves around to the left, but this way takes three times as long. Please trade out items fairly and it would be great if a couple TBs would visit this cache. I'll be maintaining the cache about once a week so they will be safe. Also please do not leave food items. There are many small critters living nearby.

The cache is an ammo box filled with these items.
