The water from lake Skjerjavatnet is used in the Vemundsbotn and Matre power stations in Masfjorden kommune.
There is a gravel road going almost all the way to the cache. However, an avalanche has damaged the road so it is not open for cars anymore, only bikes and feet.
Access: Drive to Modalen, go left at Helland and follow the road. Throughout the Hellandsdalen valley you will have a magnificent view! The road takes you more that 800 vertical meters up into the mountains!
This area is a popular starting point for hiking in Stølsheimen. There are marked trails to the Skavlabu and Vardadalsbu mountain cabins, see www.turistforeningen.no for information.
