Geocache Description:

A two part cache on two paved hiking trails.

This is a two part cache with the first micro cache on the Willard Munger trail. It contains the coordinates to the final cache which is located just off the Alex Laveau Memorial Bike trail. Like the Willard Munger, the Laveau trail is a paved hiking/biking trail which is closed to motorized traffic except for snowmobiles in the winter. The Laveau trail extends from Carlton southeastward to Highway 23 where the paving ends. The railroad bed keeps going east across the Wisconsin border and T's at the Gandy Dancer trail which runs north into Superior, WI, and south to Danbury, WI. From the micro, take the trail for an easy half-mile walk to the final site and enjoy the views. The original contents of this cache is 10 DVD movies of old TV shows ( Beverly Hillbillies, Three Stooges, etc.) plus some small trinkets. You may trade small items as usual but please, IF YOU PLAN TO TAKE A DVD, BRING ONE TO REPLACE IT. You can buy cheap DVD’s in many stores or bring one from home that you are willing to part with. Let’s try to keep at least 10 in the box to choose from. Alex Laveau, his wife, and their ten children ran a dairy farm near Wrenshall. Alex served as county commissioner and on many committees in the church and dairy organizations until his death in 1991. In 1992, this old railroad bed was graded and paved in Alex’s memory. Most of the Laveau children continue to farm, work, and live in the Wrenshall area.
