An unusual gem for this area – a windmill! Free parking by the entrance. The cache is a black 35mm film canister. Please take your own pencil.
This mill is over 200 years old & it is thought a windmill has stood here since 1317. The current mill stopped working in 1927 & was renovated in 1958. Although it is no longer a working mill, it still contains all its operating machinery. On a clear day, from here you can see Cheddar Gorge, Brent Knoll, the Pilton Hills & Hinkley Point Power Station.
The mill itself is now open regularly throughout the summer on the following days –
Easter – September: Sundays & Bank Holidays - 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
During July & August also on Wednesdays - 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
NOTE – The cache can be accessed at any time, it does not depend on the mill being open.
Food available in pub 3/4 mile SW at N51 15.331 W002 50.977(towards A38)
