Forget those pesky micros, I like those heavy duty ammo boxes! This one is a 1.8 mile hike up the Blue Lake Trail (hence, the name) in the beautiful North Cascades in the shadow of the Liberty Bell massif.
The Blue Lake trailhead is 32 miles west of Winthrop on Highway 20 (North Cascades Highway) at milepost 161.5, 0.8 mile west of Washington Pass. The trailhead is on the south side of the road at elevation 5,200'. The trail is on the Green Trails Washington Pass #50 map. This trail is included in every North Cascades hiking guide.
A Northwest Forest Pass or Golden Age/Golden Access Pass is required for parking at this trailhead. Please Note: This highway is closed from approximately late November to mid-April due to snow, and the trail is seldom open for hiking until late June or July.
Hike up the Blue Lake Trail 1.7 miles to where there's a climbers' trail that takes off to the left. (N 48 30.754'/ W 120 39.943'). Take this climbers' trail (no need to leave the main trail until now) about 160' to reach this BLT cache. Nice and open here, the GPS reception is great! Be on the lookout for mountain goats up here which we've seen on several occassions, including the day of placement.

Once you've found the cache, and as long as you're this far up, you might as well continue for another 1/2 mile to the lovely Blue Lake. Both the cache spot and Blue Lake are great places for a lunch and/or nap stop with views of Liberty Bell and Early Winter Spires. Fishermen have been caught here, pun intended.
