The coordinates listed will take you along a hiking trail that is
actually a boardwalk that winds up Tracey Hill overlooking historic
Red Bay, Labrador. Don't let the idea of a boardwalk fool you
though... it's 670 steps along a 1.436 kilometer trail of hiking
involved, and it's all uphill (until you come back of course!). The
view is well worth the hike!
Local legend tells of the infamous pirate Captain William Kidd who
supposedly buried his treasure in the "Pond on the Hill". The
Guardian of this treasure was a headless man (one of Kidd's slain
crew members) believed to appear at midnight.
The rest of the story (and it is quite interesting!) can be found
on another plaque near the actual pond where the treasure is
supposedly hidden. There is another cache hidden at the top of the
hill (GCGX76) if your legs are up to the challenge!
This is the first stage of a two-part multi. The coordinates listed
bring you to "Captain Kidd's Lookout". Here you will be able to see
ships approaching the hiding place through your telescope, provided
you 'pay the ransom'! On the nearby plaque, find a four-digit
number. Take the first three digits and subtract 19 from them.
Then, add this resulting three-digit number to the West
coordinates listed here and off you go to find Captain Kidd's
treasure! The North coords are the same... (Spooky isn't it!!!!!!).
