In Lafayette Township
Lafayette Township is located in McKean County PA. It is surrounded by Bradford Township to the north, Keating Township to the east, Hamlin Township to the south and Hamilton and Corydon Townships to the west. Lafayette was settled around 1823 and incorporated in 1842. Located in Lafayette Township are the Bradford Regional Airport, the Federal Correctional Institute, and this cache. The cache is midway between the airport and the FCI.
The cache is just off Route 59 on the Taintor Road. It is easily accessible, hidden in a small patch of forest between two access roads and Route 59. During the winter months, access is from Route 59 only since the road is not maintained. During the summer months the road is a paved road from Big Shanty Road over to Route 59, about 1.5 miles in length. After finding the cache, I would recommend driving this road for the view. As always in Pennsylvania, wear bright orange during hunting season.
This is a smaller traditional cache. There is room for small items and small travel bugs. Deviating from the FTF prize, I have left three items for the first three people who find the cache. There is an unregistered US Geocoin, a set of unregistered travel bug tags, and a Canadian Geocoin. The FTF has their choice of the three. In addition, I started it off by leaving a Yellow Jeep TB. Happy Caching
