Poulamon? Where's that? I wish I had a Loonie for every time I was
asked that question. The cache overlooks Poulamon Bay and what was
once the site of the Government Wharf in Poulamon. Not much
evidence that it ever existed but it was once a hubbub of activity.
It was a stop for the SS Ulna. My mother took one of the last trips
the Ulna made from Sydney to Poulamon in the mid 1940's. As a child
in the 60's, I can remember the wharf....or what was left of it.
The cache is a 35mm cannister covered in duct tape. It contains
a log sheet and pencil but, as with all micros, it might be wise to
bring your own writing tool. Please rehide as found.
No need to go near the bank! You may want to choose a parking
spot a small distance either side of the cache. Stealth may be
required.....but if you have your camera or binoculars the view is
grand. If conditions are right, it's also a great venue for
spectacular sunsets. From the cache, our family summer home is
about 350 meters bearing 74°T. If you see my
Jeep there, drop in and say hi.
This is the second of our Isle Madame trilogy.
