A cut above... Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Thornproof: Following recent DNF logs we checked the cache site and there's no sign of the container. Since the National Waterways Festival 2005 the parking area in Redbrow Lane sadly seems to have reverted to being the favourite area of local flytippers. We have therefore decided to archive the cache rather than replace it.

We may research another location nearby in due course.

Geocache Description:

The cache is situated on the Bridgewater canal near the site of the National Waterways Festival 2005

The cache has been resited beside the canal and the new container is a small clip-top plastic box. It contains a log book and pencil plus some items for trade.

Roadside parking is available in Red Brow Lane at N 53 19.803 W002 39.170. Alternatively it's an ideal cache for passing boaters.

The cache was placed to coincide with the National Waterways Festival 2005 which took place from 27th - 29th August within 1/4 mile of the cache.

Thanks to Bargee, our Canal Traveller TB completed its first mission successfully and was placed in the original "A cut above..." cache during NWF 2005.

Fortunately we had retrieved the TB temporarily to attach a 2005 plaque so it wasn't lost when the original cache disappeared. It is now on its journey to the 2006 site at Beale Park on the Thames.
