Geocache Description:

Cache is found at the glacier fed, turquoise Blanca Lake after a hike of 4 miles, 2700 feet up then 600 feet down.

This hike is one of my favorites. You get a good workout with an awesome payoff at the end. Blanca Lake is a glacier fed alpine lake. The turquoise color is stunning against the mountains that ring it. The cache is hidden within a hundred feet of the lake. I suggest you get to the lake before turning on your GPS.

Rough directions: For those coming from the Seattle metro area, take Route 2 East toward Stevens Pass. Make a left at the Index Cafe to follow the North Fork Skyomish River Road about 15 miles. Left on gravel road No 63 two miles to the trailhead for trail 1052.

Cache is a standard green ammo box. There is a log book, disposable camera and a goodie bag with a couple items to start it off; a lighter, crayons, salamander toy, cable ties.

There are campsites at the high point of the trail and closer to the lake for those interested in making this an overnight trip.
