At Eagle Bluff, on the Baden-Powell trail, in West Vancouver, container is a tupperware type small sealed plastic food container (clear container, blue lid) with log book, pencil some of my cards in it with e-mail address and website on card, and a few trade items. Cache hidden under a large tree (see photo).
Eagle Bluff is on the Baden-Powell trail, in West Vancouver. Easy access is from Cypress Park, downhill ski parking lot. Follow the BP trail towards Horseshoe Bay, stop at Cabin Lake for a swim if you wish. Return trip is approx 9.5 kms, total elev gain is only 335 M.
Note from Hugs, October 2006: Effective summer of 2006, you cannot access this cache from Horseshoe Bay any more, because there is an injunction against public access to the public land in that direction (to allow logging and blasting for the Olympic road expansion). Also, from the Cypress direction, watch for large trucks and belligerent loggers on the 'trail' in the 'park' - they're taking out a bunch of old-growth trees to make the half-pipe for the Olympic snow-board event.
The hike is rewarding for its great view of English Bay, the Strait of Georgia, Vancouver west side and Vancouver Island (see photo).
BEWARE OF BEARS! Note from BC Eagle on Aug 18, 2005: On the way in, some hikers coming out told us they had seen a mother bear with 2 cubs and another bear at the foot of the bluffs. We were lucky enough not to meet any of them!
Depending on the snow fall in winter, may or may not be accessble in winter and spring months.
