Pioneers: Lake Mtka Reg. Park Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

VectorHound: I award the "Last-to-Find" honors to GeoSeekers. And congratulations on using ingenuity to solve the puzzle.
Unfortunately, the underbrush has grown so much that the old house was no longer even visible from the location of the sign describing the old house, and so they removed the sign. And, since the sign was a key to the puzzle, this one is being archived. It's been there for 6 years, and 104 visits, remaining mostly in good shape, with interesting swag. But traffic has dwindled over time.
So, its time to open this fine park for another Geocacher to make a hide.
Thank you, Three Rivers Park District for your pro-geocaching assistance and cooperation.
Thanks for all who visited, and especially those who helped with maintenence.

P.S. This was once a part of 3 "available-by-boat" Lake Minnetonka caches.... but over 6 years time, not one finder came by boat. All have now been archived.

Geocache Description:

A traditional Ammo Can in the woods at the Three Rivers District- Lake Minnetonka Regional Park.
Accessible by Auto or Boat. Docks are at 44 53.883, 93 40.136 (West end of Lake Mtka)

The posted coordinates bring you to an informational sign describing an original settler's home.
The remains of this home are interesting because of its stone construction.
Do not trespass on the building site itself.

Discover the "year built" and assign each of the digits as follows:

     A         B        C       D
     _         _       _        _
   |_|      |_|     |_|     |_|

(1000)   (100)   (10)    (1)

Final coordinates are: N  44  53.EFG    W  93  40.HIJ

Where:  E= D+2
           F= C-3
           G= B-6
           H= D-4
           I= C+1
           J= B-5

It is a short walk from the sign, along an unimproved trail. (the trail has had some additional improvements since the cache was first hidden)

Parking for personal vehicles is again free for 2011. Boat dock is also free. The shortest route from the dock is the footpath and not the blacktop road.
There is a great playground for the kids. A unique man-made swimmin' hole and beach is available (for an activity fee). There is a dog exercise area. Park hours are 6 AM til sunset. Obey all posted rules.
