Geocache Description:

This cache is located in a rural area with wide views over the West
of the island.

LE CRAPAUD (The Toad) is a Letterbox Cache containing the box identity stamp, ink pad & log only. Due to limited space there are no trade items. As this is a Letterbox, to claim it you should either- imprint the log with your own personal rubber stamp design (cheap from craft shops or try cutting your own from an eraser) or use a personalized geocaching sticker bearing your username. If you can`t manage these, get the kids to draw a small picture of you, use the dog`s pawprint or anything a bit creative! Use the box`s own stamp to mark your own journal or record book. This can form part of a long walk from Mielle de Morville by taking one of the paths initially heading East up to high ground. For a short walk, park at Pres D`Auvergne (L`Etacq) & take the path from the quarry entrance or just park at N 49` 13.950 W 002` 13.470. The 12a bus will get you to Mielle de Morville or L`Etacq.

This cache works as a multi/offset so the main grid reference is not the cache but the starting point where clues will give you the cache location. Here you will see an inscribed rock with a series of dates on the bottom, these form a number sequence 16 digits long. To start, multiply the 2nd digit by the 6th, then multiply by 14, now subtract the 7th digit. This result is "Answer A". Next, add up all the eights in the sequence, multiply by 15, then add the final digit. This result is "Answer B". Now put your two results into the following to get the cache location - N49` 13.??? (Answer A), W002` 13.??? (Answer B). Using the new grid ref. look for a "heavily disguised" screw top container . After you complete the log, please ensure that box`s stamp & ink-pad go back in the cache - THESE ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS - & securely replace the lid. ...and in case you`re wondering - "Crapaud" (toad) is a traditional term of abuse used by Guernsey folk when talking about people from Jersey!
(There are toads in Jersey but they never made it as far as our sister isle). GOOD LUCK ! (& watch out for the dog walkers)
